Loretta Fern Myers
Loretta Fern Myers, 89, passed away on October 3, 2019. She was born on April 5, 1930, in Wills Point, TX, to John William Wilson and Lois Jane Parsons. Loretta was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was affectionately known as "Granny Retta." Loretta enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her legendary chocolate fudge, and spending time with her friends at game night at the Rockwall City Center every Tuesday. She was a strong Christian woman who was active in her faith and a true walking testimony of Christ. Loretta was the longest active member of her church choir at First Baptist Church of Rockwall. In her professional life, she worked at Bodin Concrete Co. for thirty-seven years until her retirement in September 2019. She was blessed to be able to work with her sisters and other family members, which made for a lighter workday. She loved her church and her family dearly. Loretta is survived by her children: Sheila Schwertner and husband Ray, David Myers and wife Nina; grandchildren: Jared Schwertner and wife Tara, Jordan Schwertner, Lacy Livingston and husband Mark, Amanda O'Connor and husband Dan, Jason Myers and wife Shelly; great-grandchildren: Mia O'Connor, Stella O'Connor, and Lydia O'Connor, Ethan Schwertner, Emmalin Schwertner, and Levi Schwertner; sisters: Charlotte Bodin and Linda McKnight; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Harry F. Myers; her brother, Hoyt Parsons; and her sister, Alana Provence. Loretta will be missed deeply and profoundly by everyone whose lives she touched with her gracious spirit and her loving heart. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Jesse Crouch were held at 1:00pm on Monday, October 7, 2019, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall. Interment followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends took place on Monday at the funeral home beginning at 12:00pm.
