He was born Sept. 29, 1933 to Rev. Thomas A. Bohannan and Vida Lucille Preston in Fort Worth, Texas. Don graduated with a BBA from Baylor University. He proudly served as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

Don was the owner of Pizza Spa Enterprises until retirement, after which he became owner and operator of Grandy's in Rockwall for many years. He served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church Heath, Texas.

While stationed in Dayton, Ohio, Don met and married Sandra Jean Matthews on Aug. 18, 1956. They were married for 45 years, during which time he was a devoted family man and made sure his three daughters had wonderful and significant life experiences, including: devotedly attending church at First Baptist church of Heath; owning and keeping horses, which led to active membership at the Rockwall Riding Club; family vacations to Dude or Guest Ranches, in Colorado for weeks at a time; building a swimming pool and tennis court for family and friends to enjoy; maintaining a very productive vegetable garden; providing piano and voice lessons for his daughters, and always a menagerie of pets. There were also "opportunities" to go fishing, which was HIS favorite hobby. He will forever be remembered by his daughters for making sure their life was purposeful, meaningful and FUN!

Don is survived by his three daughters, Gale and Rev. Mark S Simpson of Canyon Lake, Texas; Brenda Cantrell and fiancé Dan Rubey of Anna, Texas; and, Cathy Young of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He loved his eight grandchildren: Anthony Simpson, Cassie Hamilton, Aubrey VanNortwick, Alexandra Minx, Casey McClelland, Christine Frazier, Taylor Young and James Young; also nine great-grandchildren: Haley, Emma, Jake, Paris, Ty, Josie, Isla, Olivia and Margeaux.

Don is also survived by three siblings, Dr. Wayne Bohannan of Hurst, Texas; Joyce McCorkle of Keller, Texas; and Dr. Roger Bohannan of Keller, Texas. Also his former wife, Sandra Jean Bohannan of New Braunfels, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
