David Lightfoot, 67, of Lucas, passed away Sept. 6, 2018.

He was born Oct. 31, 1950 to Jerome Loyd Lightfoot and Doris Elizabeth (Hodges) Lightfoot in Gorman. David was a 1969 graduate of Copperas Cove High School, where he played football and basketball. He was an offensive guard for Lamar University in Beaumont, from 1969 to 1972. David married Linda Ann Bush on Dec. 19, 1975 in Killen. He retired from TXU Energy as a CPA after 17 years of dedicated work. David was a longtime resident of the Dallas area.

He enjoyed playing golf, having lunch with his guy friends every Friday and being with his family. David loved his family and grandkids. He was a devoted member of McLendon-Chisholm Baptist Church in Rockwall, where he enjoyed attending church. David will be missed by family, friends and all those who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Ann Lightfoot of Lucas; daughters Erin Lipsey and husband Michael of Rowlett, and Brooke Jones and husband Derek of Lucas; grandchildren Kellen Jones, Kyler Jones, Briggs Lipsey, and Nash Lipsey; mother Doris Elizabeth Simank of Copperas Cove; brother Jeffrey Lynn Lightfoot and wife Tisha of Dallas; uncle Gerald Hodges and wife Jean Ellen of Harker Heights; aunts Marjorie Hodges of Valley Mills and Billie Lightfoot of De Leon.

David was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Loyd Lightfoot; five uncles; and two aunts.

The family received friends during a visitation on Monday, Sept. 10, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, in Allen.
