David Harrison Crenshaw Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Harrison Crenshaw, age 68, on January 16, 2025. David's life was marked by his unwavering faith, love for his family, and a distinguished career in construction that spanned decades.

A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Royse City, David's faith in the Lord was a central part of his life. He served the church in many capacities, including as a Sunday school teacher, AWANAS leader, community group leader, and had the honor of baptizing several of his children. His spiritual dedication and commitment to his community were an inspiration to all who knew him. David's greatest joy was his family. He was the best husband, father, son, and Papa anyone could ask for. Celebrating milestones and holidays with his loved ones was one of his most cherished pastimes. He made time for his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each of them. In addition to his role as a devoted family man, David also dedicated many years as a volunteer at the Royse City cemetery. He spent countless hours rejuvenating the plots, clearing land, and ensuring that the cemetery remained in perfect shape, a testament to his pride in his hometown. David began his career in construction by working in his family's window and glass business, Talco, before going on to serve as a project manager and estimator for Striland Construction for over 20 years. Among his many accomplishments were his contributions to the Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas, working alongside renowned architect I.M. Pei, and the construction of numerous hospitals and schools throughout the metroplex. His hard work, dedication, and loyalty earned him the respect of his colleagues and made him a trusted friend to all.

David leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service. He is survived by his devoted wife, Doneine, and their six children: John David, Alexandra, Robert, Amber, Andrea, and Adam. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara June Crenshaw of Royse City, TX; his brothers, Danny and wife Janie of Greenville, TX, and Donald and wife Judy of Royse City, TX; two nieces, Eugenia Crenshaw and Chalee Whitworth and their families; five grandchildren: Landon, Jax, Adam, Finley, and Sadie; as well as numerous other family members and friends who will miss him deeply.

A service to celebrate David's life will be held on Sunday, January 26th at 1:00 pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall, TX. Following his graveside burial at the Royse City cemetery, family and friends are invited for a meal and continued celebration at Occasions at Stone River, also in Royse City, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to go towards David's gravestone, which would be a great honor for loved ones to cherish for generations to come.
