Born on September 23, 1939, in Heath, Texas, Anita's life was a tapestry woven with dedication, love, and service. Anita was the beloved matriarch of a family that adored her. She is survived by her devoted children, Evana Howard and Darrel Massey; cherished grandchildren, James Howard, Mary McKethan, Shasta Massey, and Angelica Massey; and adored great-grandchildren, Ava McKethan, Jacob McKethan, and Joshua Howard. Anita also leaves behind a legacy of love in her siblings, Mary Selman, Betty Bern, Barbara Willess, Allen Piper, and Carolyn Piper. Her parents, M. She completed her high school education through mail coursework, a testament to her commitment to personal growth, while simultaneously raising her children and working full time. Her professional life was dedicated to the Rockwall Independent School District (RISD) Food Service, where she served for 33 years and retired as the esteemed Director of Food Service.

Her passion for her work extended far beyond the kitchen. Anita was a pillar in the Texas School Food Service Association (TSFSA), holding every elective office from local chapter president to district director. She was the proud editor of "The Lunch Bell," TSFSA's professional journal, and served as the TSFSA President from 1989 to 1990. Her expertise and enthusiasm made her a sought-after guest speaker for many food service workshops across various school districts. Anita's impact on her community was not limited to her professional life. She was an enthusiastic instructor at Rockwall's Senior Exercise Class at The Center, where she inspired many to embrace health and fitness. Her love for nurturing extended to the younger generation as well, as she guided and mentored many as a Girl Scout Leader. Reading, jigsaw puzzles, and playing card games were among Anita's favorite pastimes. Her love for these activities reflected her sharp mind and her enjoyment of life's simple pleasures. Anita's selfless nature shone through in her constant readiness to lend a helping hand and her loving demeanor, which made her a cherished friend, neighbor, and confidant.
