Wayne Ralph “Silver” Upleger, 67, of Rockwall passed away Jan. 29, 2012.
He was born Sept. 19, 1944, in Imlay City, Mich. He was a graduate of Almont High School where he played football and basketball. Wayne enjoyed riding snowmobiles and motorcycles, and was known to race them in his youth. He worked and retired as a flooring installation specialist.
Wayne enjoyed spending time with his friends, who affectionately called him “Silver.” He was “mighty proud” to attend his grandchildren’s sports and school activities and was especially happy to hold his great-grandsons. He was a generous man with a huge heart, and he loved his family and friends dearly.
“We love you — You bet your boots.”
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberlie Hanna (Rodd Hanna) and Stacy Maynard (Larry Maynard); and by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brandy Lownes (Chris Lownes and their son, Ethan Lownes), Derek Silvers, Brandie Hanna (Cody Saiz and their son, Cayden Saiz); Matthew Hanna and Michael Brown and Alicia “Aly” Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Dorothy Upleger, and brother Dean Upleger.
A memorial open house was held Feb. 4 in Rockwall in celebration and memory of Wayne’s life.
