WIMBERLEY — Virginia (Gini) Rathmell passed away March 22, 2011, at her residence in Wimberley with her loving family at her side.
Gini was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Jennings, Okla., to Joe and Mabel Schroeder. She attended 32 public schools, graduating from high school in Great Bend, Kan., in 1942. Gini never met a stranger. She married and lived in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, raising three boys and one girl. Gini was an interior designer and gifted portrait artist. She and her husband, Jake, met at her employer, Freed Furniture in Dallas; Jake was a research chemist at ARCO. Married in 1978 at their home in Richardson, they moved to Rockwall in 1984. Retiring in 1999 after 35 years, they later built their present home in Wimberley where son, Lane Sebring, is a physician and specialist in anti-aging medicine.
Survivors include her husband; children Gloria Donnelly, Steve Palmer, Brent Palmer and Lane Sebring; Jake’s children by a previous marriage, Karen, Robert and Greg Rathmell; and collectively, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Following cremation at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley with private memorial services to be conducted at a date to be determined at Resthaven Funeral Home in Rockwall.
