Sharon's Story

Sharon Anderson, 72, a 14-year resident of Rowlett, Texas, previously of Rockwall, Texas, passed away March 5, 2017.
She was born Aug. 28, 1944, in Greenville, Texas, to R.A. and Freda Sue (Bannister) Lawrence. Sharon was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rockwall and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a personal banker and valued her bank customers. Sharon was a strong supporter of United States veterans, donating to the Veterans Affairs since 1973. She enjoyed shopping, especially at First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas. Sharon adored her dog, Maddy May, and cats, Kitty Boy and Gray Boy. She loved country music and enjoyed doing cross-stitch. In fact, she hand-stitched Christmas stockings for her grandchildren that they have been using for 30-plus years. According to her granddaughter, she was also the best Christmas present wrapper ever! Sharon loved dancing, snow skiing, and tending to her rose bushes, especially her orange rose.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Jackie Anderson; daughter Susan Burns and husband Ronnie of Rockwall; son Alan Van Hoozer and wife Deborah of Lavon, Texas; son Jeff Anderson of Rockwall; daughter Holly Anderson of Mobile, Ala.; grandchildren Jerod Davis and wife Jessica, Jennifer Davis, Austin Anderson, Cody O'Neill and Casey Anderson; and great-grandchildren Jocelyn Davis, Jordan Davis and Ariana O'Neill.
She was preceded in death by granddaughter Heather Van Hoozer, sister Beth Bench and brother Johnny Lawrence.
Her funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment followed at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
The family received friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
