Roy's Story

Roy L. Hance, 94, a resident of Rockwall since 1966, passed away Jan. 4, 2015.
He was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Randolph, Texas, to Roy Lee and Ola Belle (Musser) Hance. Roy founded and organized the Rockwall Sheriff’s Posse and served on the board of Equest, as well as the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce and the Rockwall/Kaufman/Van Zandt Counties Water Conservation Board. He had been a member of the Rockwall Rotary Club since 1992 and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rockwall. Roy owned and operated Hance Paint and Body in Dallas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Randa (Barton) Hance of Rockwall; a son, Larry Hance and wife Jill of Dallas; and three grandchildren, Ryan, Braden and Macy Hance.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Yellowjacket Lane, Rockwall, with Dr. Joe Pool officiating. Interment follows in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
