Rodger's Story

Rodger Dale Whitaker passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 29, 1943, in Royse City to Odie and Katherine Whitaker.
Rodger was a member of the Lake Pointe Baptist Church. He served in the US Army for 13 years. After his time in the service, he worked as a mechanist and funeral director.
Those left to celebrate Rodger’s life are his loving wife of 33 years, Donna; sons Jay Whitaker, Rickey Whitaker, Randy Whitaker, Terry McLain, Gary McLain and Jason McLain; daughters Shawna Rutherford, Amy Gadson and Emily Whitaker; his mother, Katherine Whitaker; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Odie Whitaker, and two brothers, Lynn and Loyal Whitaker.   
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Lake Pointe Baptist Church, Rockwall. Interment0 followed at Rockwall City Cemetery in Rockwall.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lynch Funeral Home in Caddo Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Fisher House, 4500 S. Lancaster, Dallas, Texas.
