Paulette Lofland Burks, 74, of Rockwall, Texas, passed away June 12, 2017.
She was born April 5, 1943, in Royse City, Texas, to J.L. and Pauline (Summers) Lofland. Paulette graduated from Rockwall High School in 1961 and married Glenn Burks in 1963.
Paulette began working for the Rockwall County Clerk's office in 1969, serving as Rockwall County Clerk from 1984 until her retirement in 2006. She also served as president of the Texas Association of County Clerks from 2000-2001 and was proud to be awarded County Clerk of the Year for the State of Texas in 2005. Paulette was an active member of First Baptist Church of Rockwall. She served on the Republican Women's Club board of directors, Republican Lunch Bunch and enjoyed being a member of the Lakeside Book Club.
Paulette is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Glenn Burks of Rockwall; daughters Cheree Holden and husband Scott of Trophy Club, Texas, and Autumn Quinton and husband Billy of Rockwall; grandchildren Davis and Erin Holden of Trophy Club and Cash and Burkley Quinton of Rockwall; sister-in-law Billie Lofland; and special caregivers Ruby, Grace, Miata and Teresa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.L. and Pauline Lofland, and brother Jimmy Charles Lofland.
Her funeral service, under the direction of Rest Haven Funeral Home, was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 15, in the M.L. Jones Chapel at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad Street, Rockwall with Pastor Steve Swofford officiating. Interment followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
