Miranda Ryann Self, 31, of Rowlett, Texas, died Jan. 15, 2016, surrounded by family. Miranda showed much grace, strength, and optimism during her 4 1/2-year battle with brain cancer.
Miranda was born Dec. 8, 1984, in Dallas to Brett and Susan Morrison. She attended Rockwall schools from the first grade, graduating from Rockwall High School in 2003. During those years she participated in band, cheerleading, National Charity League, Mentorship, FCA and drill team. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies. While in college she was a member of Sigma Phi Lambda Christian Sorority. She had been a member of Lake Pointe Church since the age of 12.
Miranda married the love of her life, Spencer Self, on March 10, 2007. Their family grew in 2010 when their son, Jackson, was born. Miranda was a very dedicated and attentive wife, mother, and daughter. She was an inspiring and supportive sister to her younger brother Mitchell. Miranda was best known for her beautiful smile and joyful personality that seemed to light an entire room. She worked for Starbucks six years and was recently employed in Rockwall by Rainbows End Child Development Center and Southern Roots.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Lake Pointe Church with Pastor Steve Stroope officiating, followed by a family reception in the Hospitality Center.
