Minnette's Story

Minnette Pelphrey Goodson, 88, passed away at her home  Friday, May 29, 2015, in Rockwall.  Visitation was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at Harrell Funeral Home of Dripping Springs, Dripping Springs, Texas. She will be interred next to her husband, Dr. James H. Goodson, at Wallace Mountain Cemetery, Dripping Springs.
Minnette and James were married in Gladewater, Texas, on Dec. 27, 1947. They moved to Dallas for James’ medical career and retired to Dripping Springs in 1993. They discovered the town many years ago when they were camping with their children and had long planned on retiring in the serenity of the hill country.
Minnette was a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and The Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was born in 1926 in Breckenridge, Texas, to Lasco Wheeler and Nauty Byrd Wornell Pelphrey.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister and brother-in-law, Nauty Byrd Pelphrey Mayer and Gordon Joseph Mayer.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lasca Minnette and James Longacre of Dripping Springs; granddaughter Aubrey Longacre of New Braunfels; grandson and granddaughter-in-law James Evan and Marion Neary Longacre of Dripping Springs; a great-grandson, James Lasco Longacre; a son, James Rush Goodson of Dallas; daughter Courtney Anne Sjoerdsma of Rockwall; James Ray Sjoerdsma of Redwood City, Calif.; granddaughter Paige Allison Sjoerdsma, Indianapolis, Ind.; a grandson, Dustin James Sjoerdsma of Bellingham, Wash.; a sister and brother-in-law, Rose Marie and Dr. Martin H. Boone Jr. of Springfield, Mo.; and many dear nieces and nephews.
