Mary Ellen Williams, formerly of Rockwall, passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2012.
She was born in East Mines, Pa., on Feb. 21, 1931. She grew up in Girardville, Pa., and attended school at St. Vincent’s Catholic School during her early school years and graduated from St. Joe’s Catholic High School. She graduated from Immaculata College with a degree in chemistry and worked in the science field all of her life. After working in the chemical industry for a short time, she taught many different science and English courses, developed curriculum and managed school science departments. She retired in 1991 from the Rockwall County school system. She won numerous awards during her teaching career.
She is survived by two daughters, Ms. Joanne Reardon of Smithville, Mo., and Ms. Mary Barbara Williams of Winnsboro, S.C.; two sons, Scott Williams, M.D., Ph.D. of Rocky River, Ohio, and Robert Williams, D.V.M., of Albany, Ky.; 13 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jake, just two months ago on July 7.
She has donated her remains to the betterment of society and will not be interred. In consideration of the closeness of her death with the death of her husband, Jake Williams, the family asks that all our friends and family feel free to recount fond memories of both Jake and her and send cards or notes to members of the family at the following e-mail address so they can be shared at a planned memorial in July 2013.
