Martha's Story

Martha Jean Tate, 91, of Rockwall passed away Oct. 29, 2015.  
She was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Guymon, Okla., to James Vernon and Clara Dean (Tate) Stevens. Martha adored flowers, birds and butterflies. She enjoyed all things lovely and beautiful. Martha loved people and was a people person, which is why her friends were considered as family. She was very devoted to the Lord.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Cindy Oliphant and husband Roy; a sister-in-law, Ann Reneau and husband Calvin; cousin Jim Tate and wife Kay; niece Jennice Martinez; nephew Tobe Hooper and wife Phyliss; niece Judy Jeans and husband Jerry; and numerous other extended family members.  
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Ralph Tate; a sister Helen Stevens; brothers George “Sonny” Stevens, Pete Stevens, Richard Stevens and Sydney Stevens; and her parents.
Her funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel with Jesse Crouch officiating.
