Marianna Poston Schulz, 87, was born July 21, 1926, in San Angelo and went to be with her Lord Oct. 7, 2013.
She was the daughter of Floyd R. and Shelby (Hall) Poston of Vernon. She attended schools in Tyler, Shreveport, and Post, graduating from Vernon High School in 1943. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, now known as Texas Woman’s University, and Arlington State College, now known as University of Texas at Arlington.
She married Arnold Schulz, Sept. 4, 1948; he preceded her in death Dec. 10, 2005, after 57 years of marriage.
Survivors are a son, Randy Schulz of Southlake; grandsons Michael Schulz of Frisco and Adam Periman of Grapevine and his two children, Tucker and Madisen; daughter Sandy Ericksen and husband Scott; grandchildren Eli and Maggie of Carrollton; grandson Caleb Ericksen and wife Jessica; great-granddaughter Kennedy (age 8 days) of Ft. Worth; several nieces and nephews and their families in California and Arizona; cousins in Rockwall, N.C.; and many friends at church and places of work.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Shelby (Hall) Poston; baby sister Nancy Carolyn Poston; a brother, Jerry Poston; and daughter-in-law Laura (Fuston) Schulz (Randy’s wife).
Her employment included IBM Dept. of Resistol Hats, Garland; Computer Services, Dallas; American Meter Co., Fullerton, Calif.; University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill.; U.S. Department of Defense, Corps of Engineers, CERL, Champaign, Ill., in computer operations. She returned to Texas in 1987 when her husband, Arnold, retired from Kraft Foods, Champaign, Ill., locating in Carrollton. She retired October 1995 after 20-plus years with the Corps of Engineers, Dallas.
She was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church, Garland, and served as their first treasurer of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Carrollton, LWML, Careciple Group, POP’s Senior Citizens, and the Church Library since 1997. She was also a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1139, North Dallas (NARFE).
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 I35E, Carrollton, Texas (972-242-5261).
Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4000 Midway Road, Carrollton 75007 (972-447-9887). Graveside will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas 75382 (972-238-7111).
There will be a luncheon provided for the family and friends of Marianna Schulz provided by Prince of Peace Lutheran Church following the service.
