Laura (Lofland) Atkinson, 92, of Garland passed away Jan. 16, 2016.  
She was born May 6, 1923, in Rockwall to O.D. and Leah (Futrell) Lofland. Mrs. Atkinson was a psychiatric nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, as well as dorm mother at Buckner Children’s Home in Dallas and San Marcus Baptist Academy. She was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Garland.
Mrs. Atkinson is survived by her husband, Charles Atkinson; two daughters, Sue Dean Tennison and Gale Terry and husband Ron; grandchildren Jason Carr, Dena Carr Rambo, and husband Derek and Ken Terry and wife Lisa; great-grandchildren Forenn and husband Bobby, C.J., Miranda, Laura Abigale, Laura Gale, Jacob, Kimberly, Trace, Matt, Jaxson, and Landry.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, O.D. and Leah Lofland; two brothers, O.D. Lofland Jr. and Wilson “Buddy” Lofland and wife Dora; and granddaughter Kim Terry Rather.
Her memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 4406 Broadway Blvd, Garland, TX 75043, with Pastor Robert Doleshal officiating.  
The family will receive friends today at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.
