Kim Elaine Swan, 56, of Dallas passed away Feb. 25, 2013.
She was born Nov. 12, 1956, in Abilene to Billie Jo and Jo Ann (Nichols) Swan. Kim — lovingly called Kimbo by her family — grew up in Odessa and Rock Springs, Wyo. After graduating high school in Rock Springs, she attended the University of Wyoming, Nebraska Wesleyan University, and University of Northern Colorado, obtaining a master’s degree in special education.
Kim taught school for 25 years, retiring in Texas. She was a member of St. Pius X Church in Dallas. Kim was happiest being with her children, caring for her rescue dog Sadie, planting her flower garden, and painting.
She is survived by her son, Brandon Okano and fiancée Sarah Urtnowski of Glen Cove, N.Y.; daughter Lauren Okano of Baltimore, Md.; brother Gary Swan and wife Janet of Ft. Worth; sister Sandra Dotson and husband Neel of Heath; three nieces and four great-nephews. Kim was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service with Rosary and Mass will be held March 15 at 1:30 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Trinity in Cheyenne, Wyo. Rest Haven-Rockwall Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
