Joe Frank Spafford III of Denton passed away Dec. 7, 2013.
Joe was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Greenville to Joe Frank Spafford II and Sue Spafford. He graduated from Rockwall High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration at North Texas State University in Denton. He married Carla May Chambers of Margarita, Panama Canal Zone, on Oct. 21, 1966, in Rockwall. He was retired from Central Freight Lines, Irving, where he worked his way up to management over a period of more than 30 years.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Carla Chambers Spafford; his parents, Joe and Sue Spafford; and his brother, Steve Spafford.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jodi Zambrano of Pilot Point and Jennifer Pettit of Flower Mound; his sister, Sarah Spafford of Rockwall; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a cherished friend, Sandy Wilson.
There will be a memorial reception from 2 to 4 p.m., Dec. 14, at his daughter’s residence at 421 E. Division, Pilot Point, for those who wish to give their condolences to the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
