Jacob Lee Sloan, 22, of Rockwall passed away Feb. 12, 2014, at his house held by his mom and surrounded by family as he prepared to make his trip home to heaven. His Celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Feb. 23, at Fish Camp, 7508 County Road 2584, Royse City, Texas 75189. Michelle and J.T. Todd of McKinney will be officiating. This will be a remembrance and celebration of Jake’s life followed by a potluck meal.
Jacob was born June 24, 1991, in Stillwater, Okla., and moved to Texas as a child with his mom. He graduated from Rockwall High School in 2010.
Jake was involved in a motor vehicle accident in November of 2007.
He previously was a young man who enjoyed life to the fullest and wanted everyone around him to also be happy. He was involved in several sports activities until he was 16, from t-ball to ice hockey.
He was a very big-hearted man who loved to hug those around him and help people he didn’t know. After Jake’s accident he could still amazingly bring comfort and joy to those around him by his sweet smile and laugh. He fought a long hard battle the past six years and taught us the meaning of true strength and faith. The family has had to endure losing this angel on earth twice. Jake is survived by his parents, Melinda Willey, Mom; Firmin Willey, stepfather; and Jeff Sloan, Dad.
He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Barbara and Jerry Schmidt of Gun Barrel, City, and his paternal grandparents, Jean and Bob Finch of Burleson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jake was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Sloan; girlfriend Kyla Jones; and maternal and paternal great-grandparents
Condolences may be sent to the home of Jacob Sloan at 505 Cornelia Street, Rockwall, Texas and online at www.rockwallheraldbanner.com.
