Henry B. Zimmerman Jr., known by many as “Hank,” of Rockwall passed away April 10, 2012, two days before his 88th birthday.
He was born April 12, 1924, in Hopkins County to Henry Bob and Gertrude (Fuqua) Zimmerman. Hank proudly served his country during WWII in the Army, and was honored by receiving the Bronze Star. He married Carolyn Majors in February 1946 and they had 66 happy years together. They both finished college and taught in Texas Public Schools for 25 years before Hank became a custom home builder. After retiring, he and Carolyn went into the antique business and made many new friends until Hank’s health called for complete retirement, and then the Lord called him home. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwall and a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge.
Hank is survived by his wife of Rockwall; a brother, Herb Zimmerman and wife Dot of Dallas; niece Debbie Zimmerman of Frisco; nephews Scott Zimmerman of Prosper and Tom Zimmerman and wife Linda of Dallas; eight great-nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Sue Smith and husband Ed of Heath.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., April 14, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel with Jesse Crouch officiating. Graveside services will follow in the afternoon at 1 p.m. in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
