GARY's Story

Gary Lee Schappaugh, 66, passed away Oct. 5, 2011, after battling pancreatic cancer.  
Gary was born Dec. 24, 1944, and spent his childhood in Pensacola, Fla., where he graduated from Escambia High School in 1962. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1968 and served as an officer in the United States Army. During his military career, he was stationed in Germany, Vietnam and Fort Hood.  After his military career, Gary graduated from law school at Southern Methodist University in 1977. Gary maintained a successful law practice in Mesquite, servicing the Dallas and surrounding Metroplex area for 34 years, specializing in family law until his death.  
Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia; his sons, Adam and Christopher; his brother, James Schappaugh of Valdosta, Ga.; his grandchildren, Kristen and Boaz; his first wife, Lynn; and his stepchildren, André Garza, Angela Tadlock, Amanda Garza and Ali Garza.  
He will be missed by his family and his friends.  
Services will be at Lakepointe Church (I-30 and Ridge Road ) in the chapel, Rockwall, on Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
