D. Douglas Brantley, resident of Terrell for 30-plus years, passed away in peace Dec. 2, 2014, with his family at his side.
Doug was born in June 1941 in Terrell and spent much of his childhood in Carrollton. He was one of three children born to the late Doyle and Pauline Brantley and was the beloved husband of Gail Brantley for 47 years.
Doug will forever be remembered by his sister, Peggy Kelley; his brother, Dale Brantley; his children, Rick Gaston, Toni Stephens and Stacy Hawthorne; his grandchildren, Amy Elashry, Greg Gaston, Brittany Brantley and Zachary Stephens; his treasured great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Parnell, Scout Parnell, Rylie Gaston, Ryanne Burris, Cooper Gaston and Layla Gaston; and countless other family and friends who were blessed to be a part of his life.
Doug was successful in many avenues over the course of his life, and later retired from owning a marine construction company in Rockwall. He loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting, watching football, working hard, serving others through the church, and enjoying his grandchildren. Doug’s commitment to the Lord, genuine spirit, kindness, hardworking ethics, dependable service and love for others will be missed and remembered forever.
His service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Terrell First Assembly of God Church, 203 Main Street in Terrell, under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Terrell.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the church.
