Clayton Darr, 83, a lifelong resident of Rockwall, passed away Feb. 11, 2016. He was born April 17, 1932, in Dallas to Margaret Darr. Clayton played football at Rockwall High School from 1946 to 1950, when he graduated. Fishing was his passion and he enjoyed hosting family fish fries. He loved gardening, and he was known throughout the neighborhood for his huge garden. Clayton loved animals but was especially fond of his dog, Smokey. He is survived by his beloved wife, Thelka Darr; daughters Freda Winkfein and husband Jeff and Patricia Chamberlin and husband Terry; son James David Darr and wife Janet; grandchildren Jeff Winkfein Jr. and wife Sarah, Jennifer Webb and husband Steve, Joshua Winkfein and wife Michelle, Zachary Chamberlin, Sarah Hardi and husband Cody, and Lauren Darr; and great-grandchildren Christian Renfroe, Christopher Winkfein, Kaitlyn Renfroe, Nathan Winkfein, Colton Winkfein, Eli Thompson, Ethan Webb, and Brooklyn Winkfein. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, cousin, and best friend Clifford Darr. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel with Pastor Stanley Joseph officiating. Interment will follow at Heath Cemetery.
