Chester Kay Varnell, 67, recently of Rockwall, Texas, previously of Victoria, Texas, passed away April 30, 2017.
He was born May 26, 1949, in Plainview, Texas, to John Richard and Joann (Ferguson) Varnell. Chester was a graduate of Angelo State where he played football. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and recently moved to Rockwall to be closer to his family. Chester enjoyed watching his grandkids' sports games and fishing with his son. He was a loyal and dedicated worker, retiring from McCoy's Building Supply after 40 years. Chester was known for his great sense of humor; he was a member of Parkway Church in Victoria.
Chester is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judy Varnell; daughter Emily Laurence and husband Weldon; son Chris Varnell and wife Erin; grandchildren Bennett, Ella and Elizabeth Laurence and Lucy, Grace and Cora Varnell; a sister, Vicky Montgomery; and brothers Gilbert Varnell and J.R. Varnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Gary Varnell, John Varnell and Virginia Varnell.
A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Rest Haven Funeral Home - Rockwall Chapel with Pastor Scott Weatherford officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Byrd, Leroy Garza, Jeff Metzler, Matt Ramos, Jerry Seaton, Will Krause and the Rockwall High School Yellowjacket baseball team.
