Carl Robertson

June 23, 1923 - June 19, 2018

Carl Robertson Carl Robertson was born June 23, 1923, in Celina, Texas, to William Arthur Robertson and Minnie Lee Holbrook Robertson. He was the youngest of eight children who grew up in the farm lands of Prosper, Texas. Carl began his education in Prosper before having to stop schooling in the second or third grade to go work in the fields with his parents, as a "water jack" while they were threshing wheat, and picking cotton and onions. This was an era of hard times, but his family was able to get through The Great Depression and Wall Street collapse of 1929.
When he became of age, Carl joined the United States Army and was a private first class in the Army Air Corps. During his service during WWII, Carl served in the Signal Corps as a general mechanic and maintenance of bombers and fighter planes, as well as an armed guard on the flight line. He served in the South Pacific, Hawaii, Guam and Okinawa. When he was released of his duties, he had earned the rank of corporal and was very proud to have fought for his country. We are forever grateful for his service.
After his military duties, Carl married Nancy Peterson in 1952. He used his skills he learned in the Army, and began his own welding business, Robertson's Welding. He provided all types of welding and fabrication. They had two children, John and Tina, and raised them in the Rockwall area. Carl enjoyed spending free time with Nancy, close friends and family. They enjoyed weekend camping trips, summer vacations, and family get-togethers. Carl was a man of faith. It was his faith that carried him through his ups and downs in life, and gave him the strength he needed to be the man he was for his family. Carl was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church before they began attending First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.
Carl was called Home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, to be with his Lord and Savior. He was greeted in Heaven by his loving wife, Nancy, who passed this April; parents William and Minnie Lee; and siblings Cleo, Carter, Ralph, Lester, John Lee, Winona and Imogene. Carl was the longest living relative of his entire family.
His life and legacy will continue to be remembered and celebrated by his children, John William Robertson of Rockwall and Tina Robinson and husband John of Houston, Texas; granddaughter Rachel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
"Pray for our veterans and current service members. Freedom is a privilege denied many. Our country is a blessing to us all."
