Beverly Ann Smith, 73, of Whitney passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at a Temple hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, March 20, at White Bluff Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Terry Cosby officiating under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the funeral home.
Beverly was born Feb. 23, 1942, in Comanche, Okla., to Homer Lester and Annie Laura (Isenhour) Lovelace. On July 28, 1961, she married James W. Smith in Temple, Okla.
As an employee of Coolidge ISD for about 10 years, she worked as an administrative assistant as well as working for the Regional Service Center in Mt. Pleasant.
She loved camping and traveling in their RV, and she and James have been in every state in the U.S. except North Dakota. An animal lover, she especially loved her dogs.
She was an avid woodcarver and also enjoyed reading, but she especially loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers, H.L. Lovelace Jr., Pete Lovelace and Jim Lovelace.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Smith of Whitney; children Teresa Twedell and husband Ron of Rockwall and Gary Smith and wife Noemi Rose of Huntsville; grandchildren Laura Braden and husband Jace of Andover, Kan., Andrew Twedell of San Antonio, Keegan Smith, Zachary Smith and Lexine Smith of Huntsville and Matthew Twedell and wife Elizabeth of Rockwall; great-grandson Tannon Braden of Andover, Kan.; sisters Rachel Clingman of Enid, Okla., and Janell Bracy and husband Russell of Fort Worth; a sister-in-law, Lois Gray of Cameron, Mo.; and an aunt, Cleo Goodman of Salem, Ore.
