Beverly's Story

A memorial service for Beverly Lorayne Hendon will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, at Rockwall First Presbyterian Church, Rockwall, Texas.
MMS-Payne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Claremore, Okla., is in charge of arrangements.
Beverly passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. She was 81 years old.
She was born Jan. 8, 1935, in Houston, Texas, to Harold Arthur Cory and Blanche Lorayne (Knowles) Cory and was raised and educated in the Houston area. On Feb. 18, 1955, she married Douglas M. Williams; and with his job as a church administrator, they made their home in several different areas. Beverly worked as a school secretary for many years and enjoyed her 10 years of faithful employment with OU Medical Center. When they retired, Beverly and Douglas moved back to Texas and made the town of Rockwall their home. During their retirement they traveled for La Quinta Hotels, relieving the hotel managers for vacations and help in other times of need.
Douglas passed away in 2001 and Beverly was fortunate enough to find love again, she married Arthur Woodfin Hendon on April 26, 2002. They enjoyed traveling all over the United States. He wrote several books on the state of Texas, and Beverly helped by transcribing his notes. She was very active in the First Presbyterian Church in Rockwall. In 2015 Beverly moved to Claremore to be near her son. She lived at Brookdale where she made new and treasured friends and was active and happy.
Beverly had many loves and hobbies she enjoyed, such as spending time with her family. She also loved keeping in contact with her lifelong friends through the computer. Then there was dominoes and loved playing a game called Mexican Train. Beverly was a devoted, loving wife, mother and Christian.
Those family members who survive include her husband, Art; her son, Kenneth Williams and wife Nancy; Art's children, Brian, Diane, Julie and Brad Hendon; her grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Shannon Peterman, Josh Hill, Jennifer Self and Stacy Self; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Douglas M. Williams; her daughters, Kimberly L. Self and Janet W. Williams; her grandson, Arlo Hill; and mother and father-in-law Winifred and Louie D. Williams.
