Ann Marie Ray was born April 20, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Ray James Wegner and Carmen Anna Haug. She was taken from us Aug. 15, 2012, at the age of 53.
Annie battled ovarian cancer with courage for nearly two years.
She attended Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., as a cheerleader; she was in the pep club and played in a Tennis State Championship in which she took second. Annie attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., and loved to ski. While living in Summit County, Colo., she organized “Ride the Rockies,” a significant fund-raiser for the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce.
Annie loved to travel and realized her gift in culinary arts by working up to director in catering for the Houston and Dallas markets at the Radisson and Double Tree Hotels. In Rockwall she managed the Rush Creek Yacht Club and Restaurant. Annie opened the Heath Village Market and most recently managed the catering and concessions department of Rockwall ISD where she was responsible for the many branches of food services, including cafeteria, sports concessions and catering.
She is survived by her loving partner, Charles Edward Little; children Haley Ray, 14, and Shem Ray IV, 12; her mother, Carmen Klotz of Milwaukee, Wis.; and younger siblings Erik Van Wegner of Cortez, Colo., and Jean Lydia Moylan of Bozeman, Mont.
Annie will be remembered every day by her family as the most amazing person; she was their compass, their True North. “She was the best mother ever,” Shem Ray IV.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Aug. 18, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel.
