Aldean Elaine (Whittaker) Corwin, 81, of Rockwall, formerly of Peoria Ill., died quietly Oct. 7, 2011, at Essential Living Residential Home following a recent illness.
Aldean was born to Robert H. and Bernice (Newton) Whittaker Nov. 20, 1929, and was raised in Toulon, Ill. She married James M. Corwin and moved to Peoria, Ill., where she resided for 40 years. She worked as a real estate agent for Hodges and CNR Real Estate company until she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She moved to Texas four years ago to live with her son. During retirement her passion was being with family, her carving, and arts and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967, her parents and grandson Blake Phelan.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley and Howie Fry; her children, Rick and Pam Corwin of Pensacola, Fla., Dee (Corwin) and John Phelan of Garner, N.C., Gary and Barb Corwin of Excelsior, Minn.; Randy and Liz Corwin of Peoria, Ill., and Louie and Pat Corwin of Rockwall. She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She will be cremated Oct. 8. Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a memorial service at 10 a.m., Oct. 10, at Dayspring Discipleship Institute, 505 Boydstun, Rockwall, Texas 75087. Phil Nigh and Brenda Cox will officiate. Immediately following will be a reception in her honor. Her final resting place will be next to her husband in Compton, Ill..
